tough to walk, hard to catch a ride
sun beating down, hot, hot day
wanting to catch a ride
nice to have some kind of wheels
how would it be to go from here to there
to go where you want and when
kick back and enjoy the tunes
feeling cold air and a cool drink right there
feet tired, skin so hot, dry dry air
there goes one now, a nice ride
they didn't even look at me
just heading on down the road
need just some wheels, anything will do
one that can go from here to there
take me there and what would it be like
to not worry about the tires
engine getting hot, not enough juice
anything will do, just anything will do
an old 70 Ford with a good engine
maybe a Chevy with any kind of rims really
a torn seat, a cracked window who cares
just so long as it runs
burning up on the highway
dust in face, heat from the road
an old truck pulls up and he says
it ain't so pretty but it will get you there
jump in, and crawling in the miles slip on by
it is so good to get a ride
just any ride, the wind whistling
and a breeze blowing and miles slip by
cool water from a jug, it is a nice day
